My art explores contemporary mythology and narrative by investigating commercial entertainment that has appropriated from the past, to define the present, and influence the future. My work begins with my own private myths, by researching the stories and entertainment that have had an impact on me, especially in my childhood. My process analyzes the structure and content of mass media by digitally slicing into its footage. The remnants are then reassembled to create an abstracted portrait of the original source. My art deconstructs the mythological nature of today's mass media to reveal emotional and cultural effects this new pantheon of heroes, villains, and gods has on the viewer.
